These ghosts are too cute to be scary. The ghost trick or treaters were inspired by another great decorator, Painted Cookie.

Spooky
I got a last minute order for Halloween cookies last week. Before the phone call about the cookie order, I had thought I was all done with Halloween cookies for the year. I was actually a little disappointed because I had a few more cookie designs that I was hoping to try out. The spiders with hairy legs were inspired by Bridget of the blog Bake 350. If you like to bake or just like eating cookies, check out her blog. She's fantastic!
Thanks for placing the order CJ!

Let There Be Light
Do you feel lucky?
Well do ya, punk?!
No these weren't cookies for Dirty Hairy, but I thought Clint Eastwood's famous line was a good post title for cop cookies. The lovely ladies, Leigh and Carly at Redstone Highlands Senior Living Community ordered cookies for the North Huntington Police Department as a thank you. Carly asked if I could make some cookies with a police officer theme. I was a little worried because first I've never done police cookies and second I didn't have any police oriented cookie cutters.
Thank goodness for Copper Kitchen Gifts! They sell every variety of cookie cutter you could imagine and have design ideas for most of the cutters. I didn't have time to order any cutters, but I was able to make templates out of the lids of plastic margarine containers from some of their designs. Then I cut the cookies out by hand. I think the police officers are going to get a kick out of eating gun cookies.

Happy Halloween
I made these cookies for a mini Geneva College reunion in NYC last weekend. I was visiting my biggest cookie fan Tracy and my college roommate Tara.

Red, White, and Blue Wedding
Joann ordered cookies for the Cookie Table at her daughter Sarah's wedding. Cookie Tables are tradition in Western PA and Ohio Valley region where the bride's female relative bake cookies to be served at the wedding reception. Sarah and her fiance Jon, an officer in the U.S. Army were having a Red, White and Blue themed wedding. I made 14 dozen cookies for the wedding reception and another dozen cookie favors for the bridal party. The cookies were an interesting mix of patriotic hearts and stars; autumn pumpkins, leaves and acorns; dairy cows, barns and red tractors. Jon's family owned one of the oldest dairy farms in the area established in 1847.
After the wedding, Joann called to thank me for the cookies. I was pleased and proud to hear that although there were 14 trays of cookies leftover there wasn't a cutout cookie in sight.
